TISCUK recognises the importance of the commitment and determination of the whole staff team to fully embed any approach or cultural change. The Whole Staff Training is designed to support whole setting implementation of trauma informed and mentally healthy practices into schools and organisations, ensuring that staff have the knowledge, skills and understanding to optimise the well-being of both adults and children/young people in their school/setting. Delegates will learn key relational approaches and interventions to positively impact the whole school/setting culture.

The training is available as a 3 or 6 hour session. The full day session offers more opportunity to explore practical skills and experiential learning.

The optional 3 hour Part 2 training builds on the previous learning and is designed to be delivered two terms after Part 1.  The focus is on relational skills for staff and implementation, and you will gain deeper insight into key skills and practical strategies for developing positive relationships with children and young people.

This course is officially CPD accredited by the CPD Standards Office, with 3 or 6 hours of CPD awarded upon completion.

Part 2, Option 2: Trauma Informed Classrooms (2 hours)

Why do some students shut down, walk out, or explode - even when we mean well? And how can we respond in ways that keep learning on track and protect relationships?

This new TISCUK course connects adolescent neuroscience with everyday classroom practice: tone of voice, expectations, transitions, language, praise, and consequences - all through a trauma-informed lens.

You’ll leave with practical strategies you can use tomorrow to create calmer classrooms, reduce conflict, and support students’ emotional regulation without lowering expectations.

For secondary educators who want classrooms that are both firm and kind.

  • Understand why adolescence can amplify the effects of earlier trauma
  • Use trauma-informed language that reduces shame and increases cooperation
  • Apply natural and logical consequences relationally
  • Build psychological safety through predictable routines and clear expectations
  • Use behaviour-specific praise to increase on-task behaviour
  • Design classroom environments that support regulation, including biophilic approaches
