This training comprises a wealth of age-appropriate therapeutic interventions, tools and techniques with fascinating theoretical underpinnings from the latest research in child and adolescent psychology, psychoanalysis and neuroscience. It aims to support the practitioner to enable vulnerable children/young people to move from mental health problems, troubled relationships and mind in torment, to mind in peace. In this endeavour, delegates will gain key therapeutic skills from Emotion Focused Counselling and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.
- Advanced skills in sandplay therapy, big empathy drawing, use of emotion cards, therapeutic storytelling.
- How both mental health symptoms and violent behaviour are communications about and defence against emotional pain.
- Use of arts, metaphor and image to help children/ young people explore their inner worlds.
- How to work effectively through all stages of trauma recovery.
- How to connect with highly defended children/ young people.
- How to establish an effective working alliance with parents.
- How to develop a meaningful dialogue with children/young people so they are able to address core pain and change emotion with emotion
- How, when, where to refer on.

Who it is for:
The training is open to Practitioners who have received the TISCUK Diploma qualification (not just attendance). Those you received a ‘Pass’ will be invited to a small group interview session’ free of charge’. TISUK Practitioners who hold a Merit or Distinction do not need to attend a small group interview. Please read our duty of care to delegates.

Qualification Received:
On successful completion of the assessment delegates will receive an Advanced Certificate in Therapeutic Skills for Trauma Recovery.
